CompTIA Gears Up For RSA® Conference 2019

Mar 1, 2019

Official Education Sponsor will highlight new certifications and learning products, demo cybersecurity tools and techniques

Downers Grove, Ill. – CompTIA, the leading trade association for the global technology industry, will present in two sessions at next week’s RSA® Conference 2019 in San Francisco and highlight the breadth of its involvement in the global cybersecurity community.

The RSA Conference, the world's leading information security event with more than 50,000 attendees annually, is scheduled for March 4-8 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.

CompTIA representatives will be available in Booth #3206 throughout the conference to discuss its resources, including in-depth cybersecurity research, as well as its training and certification resources. For a complete schedule of CompTIA activities visit http://certification.comptia.org/rsa.

“At RSA CompTIA’s focus will be on how organizations can become more aggressive and proactive in countering the cyber threats that continue to multiple in volume and virulence,” said Dr. James Stanger, chief technology evangelist for CompTIA.

Stanger is scheduled to speak at two RSA learning labs.

On Wednesday, March 6, he’ll be joined by Tim Crothers, vice president of security at Target, for a discussion on how organizations worldwide have mapped metrics to practical security controls, and how they have tracked progress, and provided solid evidence of ROI and value for money. Breaking Out of the Security Metrics Matrix: Steps in the Right Direction

On Thursday, March 7, Stanger will examine the current and future state of cybersecurity penetration testing. He’ll investigate the death of the perimeter, the radical changes at end points and the vicissitudes of the cloud, and how these have all impacted pen testing. Why Pen Testing Sucks Right Now, and How You Can Fix It

More from CompTIA at RSA Conference 2019

CompTIA’s International Policy and Regulatory Compliance practice will attend RSA along with U.S. Information Technology Office representatives from Beijing to discuss restrictions on cloud and data services and the privacy and cybersecurity laws that affect business operations globally.

CompTIA will also highlight its suite of four cybersecurity certifications for technology professionals: CompTIA Security+, which validates the baseline skills needed to perform core security functions and pursue an IT security career; CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+), which applies behavioral analytics to networks and devices to prevent, detect and combat cybersecurity threats; CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP+), intended for technical professionals who wish to remain immersed in technology as opposed to strictly managing; and CompTIA PenTest+, for cybersecurity professionals tasked with penetration testing and vulnerability management.
