CompTIA Honors Reps. Susan Brooks and Jerry McNerney as 2020 Tech Champions

Washington, D.C. – CompTIA has named Reps. Susan Brooks (R-IN) and Jerry McNerney (D-CA) as its 2020 Tech Champions. Reps. Brooks and McNerney will be recognized at the association’s annual CompTIA on the Hill Tech Demo Reception at the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, February 11th, 2020 at 6:00 p.m.

“This year’s honorees work tirelessly to advance U.S. innovation and champion policies that allow technology to move our country and its citizens forward,” said Cinnamon Rogers, executive vice president for public advocacy at CompTIA. “Thanks to Representatives Brooks and McNerney, the tech industry is delivering products and services that are transforming how American’s work, connect with one another, play and prosper. Their leadership in supporting forward thinking, innovation-first policies will ensure U.S. businesses can compete globally and retain our country’s economic leadership.”

Rep. Susan Brooks is a dynamic tech advocate representing the 5th District of Indiana in the House of Representatives. She co-founded the Congressional 5G Caucus with Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-MI) where she has made streamlining broadband deployment to close the digital divide and deploying life-saving public safety communications technologies her focus. She is also co-chair of the Smart Cities Caucus. Rep. Brooks is an honorary co-chair of the Women’s High-Tech Coalition, where she is involved in advancing STEM programs and advocating for young girls to partake in computer science programs. Rep. Brooks currently serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee and is a member of the Health, the Communications and Technology, and the Oversight and Investigations subcommittees.

Rep. Jerry McNerney is a stalwart supporter of enacting policies that strengthen communities across the country and create economic opportunity for all Americans. As a representative for California’s 9th Congressional District, Rep. McNerney sits on the House Energy and Commerce Committee and is a member of both the Communications and Technology Subcommittee and the Consumer Protection and Commerce Subcommittee. Rep. McNerney also serves on the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee, and is the co-chair of the Congressional Artificial Intelligence Caucus and the Wi-Fi Caucus.

The annual CompTIA on the Hill event celebrates the latest emerging technologies and honors the achievements of government leaders who champion innovation and exemplified leadership for the IT sector. The Tech Demo Reception and Tech Champions award ceremony are co-hosted this year with the Congressional Tech Staff Association.
