CompTIA Recognizes 12 Partners for Their Innovation and Leadership in Educating and Training New Technology Professionals

Downers Grove, Ill. – Academic institutions and training organizations whose commitment to preparing individuals for careers in technology has not wavered in the midst of a global pandemic were honored today by CompTIA, the nonprofit association for the global technology industry.

CompTIA recognized 12 of its partners to open the final day of its annual Partner Summit. More than 1,500 people from 70-plus countries have participated in the summit.

Awards were presented in two categories: the Outstanding Leader Award for partners that exemplify the highest commitment to educating and certifying IT students; and the Innovation Award, which recognizes organizations for their use of innovative responses to train students during the COVID-19 crisis.

“The critical role filled by technology professionals during the pandemic has been acknowledged by many, and rightly so,” said Joe Padin, CompTIA vice president for business development.

“For many IT pros, the knowledge and skills they employ today were sparked and nurtured under the tutelage of teachers, instructors and trainers,” Padin continued. “CompTIA is pleased to celebrate these educators and the organizations that employ them for their contributions to helping millions of individuals to realize their career aspirations.”

Outstanding Leader Awards were presented to the following CompTIA partners:

  • Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute is a perennial leader in a teaching a comprehensive program that includes several CompTIA certifications. BTVI works closely with a government initiative to take students as young as 13 years old and guide them to a career in IT.
  • Clark County School District in Nevada joined the CompTIA Academic Partner Program in 2019 and immediately implemented CompTIA certifications into its curriculum. Students are now employed in the greater Las Vegas metro area, while others use their certifications to gain college credits as they continue their education.
  • CTU Training Solutions has a national footprint of 15 campuses across southern Africa. Their mission is to make a significant contribution to the development of human capital in southern Africa.
  • Global Knowledge UK is a global leader well known for their high-quality training, client engagement, partner relationships and most importantly, preparing students in the EMEA Region to meet the IT workforce needs.
  • TAC, an active CompTIA partner in Japan for more than 20 years, has educated many professionals over the years across a variety of industries, including IT.
  • Training Camp utilizes accelerated learning techniques that maximize learner retention while minimizing time-to-certification. The training extends beyond the traditional “9 to 5” format, allowing students to remain engaged with a mix of lectures, hands-on labs and exam review sessions.

Innovation Award winners included:

  • BlueScreen IT, which, in the wake of the coronavirus lockdown, took a very proactive approach in pivoting to online training, recruiting students and collaborating with CompTIA to prepare students in the UK for certification exams.
  • LeaderQuest, an ACI Learning Company implemented CompTIA’s CertMaster suite of products to provide IT training for students even as they were confined to home in the wake of COVID-19.
  • Lovely Professional University is India’s largest private university. In response to the pandemic, Lovely Professional University successfully embedded eLearning into its  IT curriculum, enabling students to continue their learning online, anywhere and at any time.
  • Masanet hit the ground running in March as the pandemic swept the world, delivering a high-quality, live distance learning program to students across Mexico, Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • Torque IT had the infrastructure in place when the pandemic hit to swiftly pivot to virtual instructor-led training. Their innovative approach to instruction helped their students comprehend complex content and develop the knowledge required to succeed.
  • Trocaire College in Buffalo, N.Y., offered a free five-week instructor-led online IT career exploration course to dispel that misconception that an IT career is out of reach for the average person. The course, based on CompTIA IT Fundamentals+, was attended by 100 students.

The CompTIA Partner Summit delivered more than 10 hours of original content on IT workforce trends; instructor best-practices from education and training industry leaders; how to use online learning and training; strategies for reskilling and upskilling; and more.
