DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. – CompTIA, the leading trade association for the global technology industry and workforce, today announced the publication of “A CEO’s Guide to Choosing an IT Service Provider: Cybersecurity questions for business leaders to ask potential MSP partners.” The guide, which was developed by the CompTIA Cybersecurity Advisory Council, provides a framework of questions designed to aid in the hiring of an IT partner that can be trusted to design, access, administer and secure an organization’s network and data.
“The decision to select an IT service provider or managed service provider (MSP) is critical to any organization,” said Deborah Schildkraut, Vice President, Community Engagement. “As a business leader, you need to be prepared to ask the tough, important questions to ensure that your IT provider is qualified to meet your needs. Along with legal and accounting, there are a few service categories that require a more trusted partner to handle and manage sensitive information.”
The CompTIA Cybersecurity Advisory Council developed this guide to help executives, who might not be technology professionals, to ask the right questions—and solicit the right answers—regarding the support, stability, and security related to their company’s systems. In addition, it will help obtain clarity around how a service provider treats its own systems where sensitive information may be stored and how remote access will occur.
The guide, which is formatted as a workbook, includes important topics including a company’s background, frameworks and compliance, policies, privilege account management, systems management, incident response, critical patch and vulnerability management, detection and prevention, service recovering, security assessments, and cybersecurity insurance.
The CompTIA Cybersecurity Advisory Council brings together thought leaders and innovators from a multitude of disciplines, working together to educate technology solution providers on the latest and greatest cybersecurity practices and protocols for business.
