CompTIA’s Space Enterprise Council Hosting Americas Space Summit

Apr 13, 2021

Washington, D.C. –The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA), the leading trade association for the global information technology industry, is convening leaders from government and industry for the inaugural Americas Space Summit on April 28. The virtual event will feature engaging presentations from space leaders from key Latin American nations.

“The United States has made a concerted effort in the last decade to strengthen our ties with Latin American partners,” said David Logsdon, Senior Director of CompTIA’s Space Enterprise Council (SEC). “Latin America is a strategic market for U.S. space companies, with several long-time allies in the region. Latin America is considered by most experts as a hotbed for satellite technology innovation, particularly in the small satellite sector.”

Participating countries include Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, and Paraguay. Leaders from NASA and the U.S. Department of State will also share remarks.

The Americas Space Summit will take place 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. (U.S. Eastern) on Wednesday, April 28. Registration is open to all and there is no fee to attend. To register, go here.

The full agenda for the summit can be viewed here.

Leaders from the public and private sectors of the space industry in Latin America will share highlights of their respective space activities, technological innovations, and current and future challenges and opportunities.

“Our goal with the Americas Space Summit is to bring awareness to a burgeoning space marketplace and potential business development opportunities for U.S. and Latin American companies,” Logsdon said.

CompTIA’s Space Enterprise Council has developed strong ties throughout Latin America, with Memorandums of Understanding in place with Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Colombia, as well as active engagement with several other countries. Through these relationships, the Space Enterprise Council creates opportunities for its member companies – and the U.S. space industry at large – to connect with their counterparts in these countries with the potential for further partnerships and collaboration.
