Feb 26, 2021

Career pathways, salary calculator and other information available from leading technology industry association

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. – With employer demand for technology professionals strong, free resources to help start or advance in a career in tech are available from CompTIA, the nonprofit association for the information technology (IT) industry and workforce.

Career planning roadmaps, information on salaries for a range of IT jobs, guidance on education, training and professional certifications and more is available at comptia.org/.

“The technology field offers many opportunities for a meaningful, rewarding career,” said John McGlinchey, CompTIA’s executive vice president for global certification. “If you have an interest in technology or already are a tech professional, CompTIA has the credentials, tools and training to support your aspirations and goals at every stage of your career.”

The U.S. unemployment rate for tech occupations was 2.4% in January, compared to 6.3% for the overall economy, according to the latest CompTIA Tech Jobs Report. U.S. employers advertised job openings for more than 232,000 tech occupations last month. These openings were spread across many industries besides technology, including financial services, manufacturing, retail, healthcare, government and education.

The free resources include the CompTIA IT Career Roadmap. It offers insights into a variety of career paths, whether you’re just getting started, looking to add skills to prepare for a new role or are taking on more advanced responsibilities in your current job.

CompTIA’s Certification Job Match site identifies the certifications that are most relevant for a variety of IT occupations. A CompTIA certification will help you validate the skills needed for many jobs, from early to advanced stages of a career. With nearly 2.8 million certifications awarded, CompTIA is a global leader in the credentialing of tech workers.

The CompTIA IT Salary Calculator allows you to explore salary estimates for different tech occupations at different levels of expertise. The calculator includes salary data from 400 different metropolitan areas covering 85% of the U.S. population, from an IT support specialist in Portland, Maine ($52,750) to a cybersecurity analyst in Portland, Oregon ($101,530).

CompTIA has also partnered with ZipRecruiter in the U.S. and Canada to help you find identify relevant job openings, including hundreds of thousands of positions for IT professionals. Visit Find Tech Jobs Now for more information.

Additional career development resources are available in CompTIA’s IT Career Center.
