CompTIA Cyberstates™ 2018 report shows tech sector contributes $6.7 billion to state’s economy
Oklahoma City, Okla. – Technology-related employment in Oklahoma held steady in 2017, according to Cyberstates™ 2018, the definitive annual analysis of the nation’s tech industry published today by CompTIA, the world’s leading technology industry association.
The tech sector is responsible for an estimated 3.8 percent ($6.7 billion) of the overall economy in Oklahoma, which is home to more than 4,000 tech business establishments.
With an estimated 86,800 tech workers, Oklahoma ranks 31st in net tech employment.[1] Tech workers make up 4.9 percent of the state’s total workforce. The average tech industry wage in Oklahoma is $71,630, compared to the state’s average annual private sector wage of $44,540.
The strongest year-over-year job growth occurred in the category of packaged software (+ 8.7 percent).
