CompTIA issued the following statement from Stefanie Holland, Vice President of Federal and Global Policy, regarding the French Digital Services Tax (DST) that has been approved by the French Parliament and is expected to be signed into law this month.
“CompTIA strongly opposes the French Digital Services Tax (DTS) and supports the Administration's efforts to curb this action. This discriminatory tax targets many of the world’s most innovative companies by taxing their revenue twice and will ultimately harm job and economic growth in France and elsewhere. The DTS will lead to confusion for consumers and businesses alike, and create an uneven online marketplace. We reject arbitrary, go-it-alone hurdles to ingenuity like the DTS, and call on French authorities to work via the OECD on this very important issue.”
