Tech-related employment increased by 3.6% last year, the eighth highest percentage among the 50 states and the District of Columbia. No other industry in the state added more jobs. Net tech employment in New Hampshire stood at 72,411 at the end of 2019. That represents 10.1% of the state’s workforce.
Between 2010 and 2019 net tech employment increased by 24.5%, with 14,265 new jobs added.
The median tech occupation wage in New Hampshire is $84,286, 85% higher than the median wage for all occupations in the state.
The tech sector generates an estimated $10.9 billion in economic activity, 13.7% of the state’s economy. That is the sixth highest percentage among all states. There are more than 4,600 tech business establishments in the state.
“Technology powered job growth and economic gains in the past decade in New Hampshire and across the county while delivering countless benefits in how we work, communicate, create and share,” said Todd Thibodeaux, president and CEO of CompTIA.
“Looking ahead, the need for professionals from all backgrounds to develop, support, and protect these technologies will continue to grow,” Thibodeaux added. “In these trying times it is often difficult to think beyond today, but we must remain committed to preparing the workforce of tomorrow for success in whatever the future may hold.”
