New Issue of CompTIAWorld Magazine Explores “The Future Gap”

Downers Grove, Ill. – The impact of the gap between the availability and adoption of new technologies and how the industry is working to close that gap is explored in the new issue of CompTIAWorld magazine published by CompTIA, the leading trade association for the global technology industry.

The cover story on the “The Future Gap” looks at why many of the gadgets that populated science fiction books, movies and TV shows over the years have become reality but have yet to deliver on the promised conveniences experienced in the The Jetsons, Blade Runner and Star Trek.

“Innovations in tech have been coming at us fast and furious, allowing us to work and live in a way only dreamt of 50 years ago,” said Nancy Hammervik, executive vice president of CompTIA’s Industry Relations Group. “All these technologies would drive greater efficiencies and customer experiences, yet many businesses are slow to adopt, creating a ‘future gap’ between the availability and adoption of new technologies.”

Hand in hand with the future gap is the persistent gap in IT skills. CompTIAWorld looks at the critical jobs that are going unfilled as emerging tech drives the need for new skills.

Also in this issue “The Next Tech Mecca: North Carolina” highlights the growing importance of the Tar Heel State as a force on the global tech scene.

“North Carolina has long been attractive to a wide range of people,” said Daniel Margolis, editor of CompTIAWorld and a native of North Carolina. “The state is geologically diverse; home to numerous prestigious universities; and attractive to all types of industries. But when you crunch the numbers, North Carolina is clearly a tech magnet.”
