Technology Industry Outlook Highlights CompTIA EMEA Member and Partner Conference Online 2020

Sessions on cybersecurity, emerging technology also planned

London – An exploration of how today’s world will impact the technology industry of tomorrow will highlight the opening day of the CompTIA EMEA Member and Partner Conference Online 2020 set for 13 and 14 October.

The two-day conference presented by the leading nonprofit association for the global technology industry opens 13 October when CompTIA CEO Todd Thibodeaux and a group of industry leaders discuss “The Impact of Today’s World on the Tech Industry.” Topics the panel plans to discuss include:

  • How has the new world of remote work and learning has impacted the industry?
  • What opportunities are available to tech companies in a “distance virtual society?”
  • Do tech companies need to embrace solutions selling and become consultants to help customers navigate these times?
  • How will technology help the future of education and training?

Scheduled speakers include Steven Capper, group chief information officer, SNC-Lavalin; John McGlinchey, executive vice president, global certification, CompTIA; Meredith Patton, director of cyber operations, Protection Group International (PGI); and Tracy Pound, FIC MCMI, managing director, MaximITy, Ltd.

Emerging Technology: Has Its Perception Changed?” will explore whether the perception of emerging technology has changed over the past year; whether customers are more open to adopting new technologies; and how that may impact the industry. Scheduled speakers are Maddy Martin, head of growth and education, Smith.ai, and Dan Scott, innovation and systems director, Complete I.T.

Cybersecurity: What Did COVID-19 Teach Us?” will feature experts who will discuss why the increase in cyber threats brought on by the pandemic in 2020 has underscored the importance of cybersecurity and whether organizations need to rethink their cyber risk management measures. Scheduled to participate in this session are Tope Aladenusi, chief strategy officer and cyber risk services leader, Deloitte West Africa; David Emm, principal security researcher, Kaspersky; Merium Khalid, senior cybersecurity analyst, SKOUT Cybersecurity; Dr. James Stanger, chief technology evangelist, CompTIA; and Ian Thornton-Trump, chief information security officer, Cyjax Limited.

Using Customer Success to Protect Your Business During a Recession” will provide insights into why your customers’ success is an increasingly important factor in ‘recession-proofing’ your business, products and services. Scheduled speakers are Mark Paine, senior director, analyst, Gartner, and Lindsay Willott, founder and chairman, Customer Thermometer.

Both days of the conference will feature the Solutions Showcase. Attendees can explore the latest products and services offered by software and hardware companies. CompTIA Partners also have the opportunity to learn more about updates to CompTIA certification, learning products and services.
