Spotlight on Technology Disruption, Evolution and Innovation at CompTIA 2017 Annual Member Meeting

Feb 28, 2017

Speakers revealed for March gathering of IT industry leaders

Downers Grove, Ill. – The impact of digital technologies on how we work, compete and collaborate highlight the speakers program for the 2017 Annual Member Meeting hosted by CompTIA, the world’s leading technology association.

The 2017 Annual Member Meeting – a gathering of top IT industry and channel executives and leaders – is set for March 21-23 in Chicago.

“The digital revolution that’s reshaping the way business gets done is also disrupting the way business gets done,” said Kelly Ricker, executive vice president, events and education, CompTIA.

“Innovations come to market faster, in greater numbers and from different sources than ever before,” Ricker continued. “We’ve lined up a group of dynamic speakers who can bring a sense of order and understanding to the chaotic marketplace our members are competing in.”

Keynote remarks will be delivered by Tom Wujec, Autodesk Fellow, TED Speaker, author and Singularity University professor. Wujec will speak on the impact of digitization on virtually every industry. He’ll share his thoughts on how individuals and organizations can compete at a time when the entire process of imagining, iterating, constructing, manufacturing, distributing, and selling products has changed.

“Fostering Innovation in an Era of Exponentially Growing Technologies” is scheduled for 8:00 a.m. (CT) on Tuesday, March 22.

Wujec returns to the main stage at 4:30 p.m. (CT) on March 22 for a Power Talk on “Evaluating Emerging Technologies.” He’ll discuss how technology solution providers can effectively evaluate new technologies and decide which solutions are right for their portfolio.

The Competitive Landscape

The digital revolution that’s creating new business opportunities is also spawning new competitive pressures for traditional channel partners. The Power Panel “Who’s Your New Competitor?” will explore the new competitive landscape. Scheduled to participate are Rochelle Coleman, director, partner strategy and marketing, Concerto Cloud Services; and Matthew Hahn, vice president of technology – network services, SWK Technologies. The session is scheduled for 4:45 p.m. (CT) on Monday, March 21.

The State of Smart Cities

New on the agenda at this year’s CompTIA Annual Member Meeting is the session “Smart Cities – How Leading Cities are Implementing Development Plans.” Representatives of the cities of Austin, Texas; Philadelphia, Pa.; and Indianapolis, Ind. – three of the five cities that won Smart Cities Readiness Challenge Grants – will detail how their communities are using smart technologies to improve urban livability, workability and sustainability. David Logsdon, senior director, public advocacy, CompTIA, will moderate the discussion, set for 11:30 a.m. CT on Tuesday, March 22.
